HOW MY LIFE ALMOST CAME TO AN END
I awoke in the middle of the night unable to breathe.
There seemed to be no air in the air.
It felt clogged with dust motes and diabolical spirochetes
determined to suck the oxygen out of my bedroom.
It was Curtains for sure!
Gasping for breath, I flew out the window
and climbed up my old oak tree to see the horizon.
As the sun began to rise my lungs filled up.
A mourning dove on a branch tweeted in my ear: You can do it!
I breathed like a new-born baby who just drew his first breath
after being slapped on the behind.
